international meeting of radiation oncologists. This year’s meeting was a success with more than 10,000 radiation oncologists, resident physicians, physicists, dosimetrists, radiation biologists, nurses and therapists in attendance. The theme of the meeting was “Technology Meets Patient Care”, with the scientific program focusing on the intersection between modern radiation oncology and superior patient centered care.
The inaugural AAWR reception took place on Monday, October 19th. Dr. Maria Kelly, Member–at Large for Radiation Oncology and ASTRO Fellow as well as AAWR president, Dr. Feng-Ming (Spring) Kong addressed an enthusiastic group of women who sipped on coffee and snacked on chocolate at the “Coffee and Chocolate” social event. Among the group of attendees were several distinguished AAWR members including prior ASTRO president Dr. Colleen Lawton and Drs. Nina Mayr and Dr. Ritsuko both ASTRO Fellows . We celebrated the accomplishments of several AAWR members, including Dr. Julia White who received the ASTRO Fellows designation this year at the 2015 Annual Meeting. There was also a strong international presence. Next year’s meeting will take place in Boston. We will see you in 2016!
